The Chainsmokers have closed one chapter and opened a brand-new one. On October 13, 2026, Drew Taggart and Alex Pall announced they’ve parted ways with Columbia/Disruptor Records after 11 years, declaring themselves independent artists. In that time, the duo released five studio albums and a stack of hits that defined an entire era of pop and electronic music.

Their run with the label started with 2015’s“Good Intentions”and ended with the Love Is Kind EP in May 2026. In between came“Closer,”“Don’t Let Me Down”and“Something Just Like This,”songs that racked up billions of streams and turned the pair into one of the biggest electronic acts on the planet. The exit follows their 2025 decision to dissolve their management deal with Disruptor founder Adam Alpert, so a shake-up was already in motion.

In their announcement, the duo thanked their former team and admitted they have“no idea what to expect for our next chapter,”adding that they’re excited to“have fun and experiment”with new releases. That freedom could mean surprise drops, genre pivots or something totally unexpected. Either way, the next era of The Chainsmokers belongs entirely to them.
