Michael Jordan's 1998 NBA Finals Jersey Sells for $14 Million, a Basketball Memorabilia Record

Michael Jordan’s red road jersey from Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals has sold for $14 million in a private deal announced by Hunt Auctions, setting a new record for basketball memorabilia. The buyer is Ron Firman, a Miami real estate investor, who said he was very excited about the purchase and called Jordan a player admired around the world.

The $14 million price tag is enormous, but it still doesn’t top the biggest jersey sale in sports history. A Babe Ruth jersey from the 1932 World Series holds that record at $24.12 million, sold back in 2024. Even within Jordan’s own collection, the prices keep climbing: his Game 1 jersey from the 1998 Finals went for about $10.1 million in 2022, and his Game 3 jersey sold for roughly $12.26 million in September 2026.

The numbers make sense once you remember what that season was. The Bulls won their sixth championship in eight years, Jordan claimed his sixth Finals MVP, and then the dynasty was over. The Last Dance turned that final run into a cultural moment all over again, and collectors have responded by treating every piece of 1998 memorabilia like a blue-chip asset. For fans, it’s a reminder that the market for Jordan’s final chapter shows no sign of cooling down.

Would you ever spend eight figures on a piece of sports history, or is some stuff just priceless?
