Sylvester Stallone is opening up about the physical price of being an action icon, and the numbers are staggering. In a new interview with Fox News Digital, the 80-year-old revealed he’s undergone nine back operations and three neck fusions, mostly stemming from his decision to perform his own stunts for decades.“I think I’m an idiot for doing that,”he admitted, adding that he could spend 30 minutes listing individual injuries and that he’s never been“quite the same”since the surgeries.
His blunt take on why it all happened is peak Stallone:“You cannot beat gravity, when you hit the ground, you lose, and it’s going to come back.”Even so, he says he’s proud he broke himself in pieces, and he’s made peace with the chronic pain. These days he’s got plenty to look forward to.“Tulsa King”Season 4 premieres October 16 on Paramount+, he moved from California to Florida in 2024 and says the change left him feeling invigorated, and his daughter Sophia got engaged to Michael Sheehan in August, a man Stallone jokes makes him look bad.
Would you rather see your favorite action stars do their own stunts, or would you rather they stay healthy for the sequel? Sound off in the comments.
