The Lawton Public Library has a question for the whole community, and it doesn’t start with“do you have a card.”The Library of Tomorrow Community Survey opened Monday, Oct. 19, and runs through Friday, Nov. 6. It’s an online Google Forms survey, and participation doesn’t require a library card or any history of using the library. That’s deliberate. Staff want to hear from people who’ve never walked through the doors, not just the regulars.
The survey asks three main things: what residents value about the library, what barriers keep them from using it, and which programs, resources, and improvements should be prioritized. For a town built around Fort Sill, those barriers can look like duty schedules, childcare, or simply not knowing what’s offered. Answers will go to library staff and the Library Board, who will use the feedback to guide future planning and decisions.
Library leaders describe the survey as the first step in a broader conversation about the library’s future, which makes the Nov. 6 deadline worth circling. Whether you’re a weekly visitor or haven’t been inside since a school field trip, the survey is open to you. What would make the Lawton library a place you’d actually use? Let us know in the comments.
