Netflix has released the first trailer for Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, and it arrives with two massive talking points. The first is the cast: David McKenna as young Digory Kirke, Daniel Craig as his magician uncle, plus Emma Mackey, Carey Mulligan, Ciarán Hinds, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Denise Gough, Susan Wokoma, and Meryl Streep voicing Aslan. The second is the music. The trailer is set to Led Zeppelin’s“Stairway to Heaven,”a track that almost never gets licensed for film trailers.
The film is written and directed by Greta Gerwig, marking her first project since 2023’s Barbie. Rather than starting with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, she’s adapting the Narnia origin story, the C.S. Lewis novel about the creation of Narnia itself. That choice has already sparked debate among longtime fans of the books.
Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew opens in IMAX and standard theaters worldwide on February 12th, 2027, with IMAX sneak previews beginning February 10th. It begins streaming on Netflix on April 2nd, 2027. Which Narnia book do you think they should adapt next?
