A Comanche County judge issued a felony arrest warrant Thursday for 31-year-old Jeremiah Juray Haynes of Lawton. According to the affidavit, Haynes is accused of running over his girlfriend’s leg with a red Dodge Durango during an argument at a Lawton home on September 18th, then grabbing her by the hair and dragging her inside. A neighbor who heard the couple fighting told police they also saw Haynes retrieve a baby in a car seat from the vehicle. The girlfriend declined medical attention and was not cooperative with officers, telling them she didn’t want to see Haynes go to jail.

Officers later tried to stop Haynes, who police say fled at high speeds, ran stop signs, cut off other vehicles and drove over 80 miles per hour on Northwest Rogers Lane. That led to a felony eluding charge carrying up to eight years in prison, along with a misdemeanor domestic abuse count. A $75,000 cash warrant bond was issued, and court records show Haynes has prior misdemeanor domestic assault cases on file.

As of Thursday, Haynes had not been taken into custody. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Lawton Police. If you or someone you know is dealing with domestic violence, local advocates and law enforcement can connect you with resources, no matter how the situation started.

Have you ever had to make the call on a situation you weren’t sure was your business? What made you decide?
