Kim Kardashian Gives Reporter the Cold Shoulder at Monaco Grand Prix

Sometimes even legendary broadcasters strike out. Sky Sports reporter Martin Brundle, famous for his signature grid walk interviews before Formula 1 races, encountered an unusually frosty reception when he approached Kim Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian at the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday, June 7.

The moment, captured on video and quickly circulated across social media, showed Brundle greeting Kim and asking how she was doing—a routine opener for someone accustomed to brief pre-race chats with celebrities and drivers. But instead of the expected polite response, Kim looked away without answering. When Brundle pressed forward with a question about whether she was enjoying the race weekend, she offered only a quick wave before continuing on with her sister and entourage.

What’s interesting here isn’t really that Kim declined an interview—guests aren’t obligated to stop for every camera that approaches them, especially in the hectic, high-security environment of the F1 grid. The online reaction, however, split almost immediately. Some viewers called the interaction outright rude, questioning Kim’s willingness to engage with press. Others defended her, pointing out that the grid is controlled chaos and celebrity guests have every right to move through without stopping.

The timing adds another layer: Kim was there to support her boyfriend, Lewis Hamilton, who blew a kiss to her from the podium after the race. The two have been hard launching their relationship in recent months, appearing together at various events since around April. So there’s a bit of irony in the most memorable moment from her trackside appearance being a non-moment with a reporter.

Neither Kim nor Khloe has publicly addressed the awkward exchange. What it really highlights, though, is how high the bar has become for public figures in public spaces. Every interaction—or lack thereof—gets dissected, debated, and turned into a referendum on someone’s character. In Kim’s case, a simple wave apparently wasn’t enough for some viewers to accept.
