The Comanche County Fair returns Sept. 8-12 at the Comanche County Fairgrounds, bringing five days of livestock competitions, agricultural exhibits and hands-on events for the whole community. Opening day kicks off with Farm Field Days and the fan-favorite FarmHand Olympics, where contestants test their skills at tractor tire flipping and egg gathering. Throughout the week, 4-H and FFA members from Lawton, Cache and across Comanche County will show sheep, goats, swine and dairy cattle, with the Bucket Calf Show giving younger kids their chance in the ring.
Thursday brings the Crochet-a-Chain Contest, a five-minute speed challenge where participants race to crochet the longest chain possible. Then Saturday is the big finale, featuring the Tractor Driving Contest with a chance to advance to the Tulsa State Fair. That same day, the annual Pie Contest returns with Junior and Senior divisions judged across cream, fruit and nut pie categories. Organizers note that cheesecakes, cobblers and crisps are not eligible, but homemade and semi-homemade pies are welcome.
