A Stephens County woman told deputies her birthday celebration ended with a knife, a pulled-hair scuffle, and her son stepping in to stop the man she lives with. Andrew Frances Dunn, 47, of Duncan, made his initial appearance Monday in Stephens County District Court on one felony count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Court records say deputies responded to a Ratliff City home shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, where the woman reported Dunn cut her with a knife, choked her, pulled her hair, punched a wall, and mistreated animals in the home.

The case carries unusual weight because of what came before. Dunn was already out on bond from an October 8 case involving assaulting hospital workers while claiming to be Jesus Christ, according to reporting from The Lawton Constitution. If convicted on the new charge, the punishment range runs from 20 years to life. He is being held on $100,000 bond, with a preliminary hearing conference set for December 16.

Local domestic violence advocates answer crisis calls around the clock, and military families have additional support through Fort Sill’s family advocacy program. You never need a police report in hand to ask questions or make a safety plan. What would you want a friend to do if they told you they were afraid to go home?
