Comanche County Election Board's Voting Reminders for Tuesday's General Election

Polls across Comanche County open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Tuesday for the general election, and Election Board Secretary Amy Sims has released a set of reminders aimed at making sure every ballot counts. If you make a mistake marking your ballot, don’t attempt to correct it yourself. Ask a precinct official for a replacement. You also don’t need to vote in every race for your ballot to be valid.

Identification is the question that comes up most, particularly for military families new to Fort Sill and for voters who haven’t been to the polls in a few cycles. Photo ID issued by the federal government, the state of Oklahoma, or a federally recognized tribe is accepted, which covers military IDs and tribal IDs issued by the Comanche Nation and other nations. Voters who forget their ID or aren’t listed in the precinct registry can sign an affidavit and cast a provisional ballot. Those are counted after Election Day once the county board verifies the voter’s information.

The audio-assisted voting system is available at polling places without requiring proof of disability. And for anyone cutting it close Tuesday evening: if you’re in line by 7 p.m. and eligible to vote, you will be allowed to vote. Not sure where your polling place is? The county election board can confirm it, along with a sample ballot so you can preview the races.

Are you voting early in the day or waiting until after work? Let us know in the comments.
