Don Henley has never been shy about his politics, and this election cycle he’s backing it up with serious money. According to an analysis by the Houston Chronicle, the Eagles co-founder donated roughly $300,000 to Texas campaigns in the first half of 2026, including $165,500 to lieutenant governor candidate Vikki Goodwin, making him her largest individual donor. Smaller checks went to agriculture commissioner candidate Clayton Tucker and Railroad Commission candidate Jon Rosenthal.

Nationwide, the numbers get even bigger. Henley has contributed nearly $2 million to Democratic campaigns and groups this cycle, with $250,000 going to Lone Star Rising, the super PAC supporting James Talarico’s US Senate bid against Republican Ken Paxton. That race is expected to be one of the most expensive in the country, and Henley’s support adds a rock star spotlight to an already crowded fight.

It’s not a surprise move for Henley, who has a long history of activism, particularly around environmental conservation, and backed Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign. He’s also busy on stage: the Eagles continue their Sphere residency in Las Vegas with 72 shows running through January 23rd, 2027. So, should celebrities be this involved in politics? Sound off in the comments.
