Texas Gas Prices Dip to $3.58 as Cooler Weather and Cheaper Crude Ease the Pump

Drivers across Texas are catching a break at the pump this week. The statewide average for regular gas has slipped to $3.58 a gallon, according to AAA Texas, with most cities posting week-over-week declines. Lubbock led the way with a 19-cent drop, down to $3.73, while McAllen holds the title for cheapest fuel in the state at $3.29. El Paso remains the priciest market at $4.03, and Midland and Odessa bucked the trend entirely, with Midland jumping a dime.

The relief comes from two places: lower crude oil prices and refineries wrapping up their fall maintenance. That combination has eased pressure on the supply side. Diesel, though, is still a different beast, averaging $5.68 a gallon statewide. And despite the recent dip, regular gas is still 94 cents higher than the same week last year, so the savings are real but modest.

With Thanksgiving travel on the horizon, analysts caution that prices could still swing based on overseas events, from tensions around the Strait of Hormuz to Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries. For Lawton-area drivers planning the trip to family in Texas or beyond, the advice is simple: fill up when you spot a good number and watch the trend heading into the holiday. Where have you found the cheapest gas around town? Let us know in the comments.
