$10,000 Scholarship for Fort Sill Military Families Pursuing Trades and Technical Careers

High school seniors from Fort Sill military families have a new scholarship option, and it’s built for students who want to learn a trade rather than sit in a college lecture hall. The Corvias Foundation has opened its Purple Tassel Vocational Achievement Scholarship, awarding up to $10,000 to eligible seniors pursuing skilled trades, technical training, certifications, or apprenticeships. A parent must be stationed at Fort Sill or one of six other Corvias-managed installations: Aberdeen Proving Ground, Fort Bragg, Fort Meade, Fort Polk, Fort Riley, or Fort Rucker.

The funds are flexible by design. They can go toward tuition, housing, books, supplies, transportation, and personal computers, which matters for military families who relocate often and stretch every dollar. The foundation says the scholarship responds to a national demand for skilled workers; the construction industry alone needs an estimated 349,000 additional workers in 2026.

Applications are open through Dec. 31 at corviasfoundation.org/scholarships. If you know a senior in a Fort Sill family, share this before the holiday season gets busy. Do you think more scholarships should support trade paths over traditional degrees? Let us know in the comments.
