Tate McRae has officially entered her next era. The pop star released“Housewife”on Thursday night (Oct. 15), marking the first single from her upcoming fourth album. The track arrived with a music video shot in the South of France, giving the rollout a cinematic, sun-drenched feel. She first teased the song during an October appearance on The Tonight Show.
McRae has described“Housewife”as being about“a woman who can’t be contained.”She also revealed that she’s been dropping Easter eggs about the new era for a while, but her fanbase, known as the Tater Tots, has missed nearly all of them. The biggest one? A“Housewife”title card that appeared at the start of her Lollapalooza set, which somehow went over everyone’s heads. As McRae put it:“My fans, in particular, we drop Easter eggs all the time, and they get none of them.”
The stakes for this rollout are high. Her previous album, So Close to What, topped the Billboard 200 in February 2025, and fans have been waiting for what comes next ever since. With a new single, a new video, and an album on the way, the Tater Tots have plenty to look forward to, even if they need to sharpen their detective skills. Did you catch any of Tate’s Easter eggs before the reveal?
