The World Dog Surfing Championships just wrapped up in Pacifica Beach, California, and a golden Lab named Rosie is officially the coolest dog on the planet. Rosie took home four first-place awards, beating out about 15 other pups in front of hundreds of cheering spectators. She’s been surfing since she was just seven months old, learning the ropes on a paddleboard with her owner, Steve Drottar. Now the duo hits the waves together four to five times a week in Santa Cruz, and it shows.

Rosie’s skills aren’t just impressing the judges at the competition. She’s also built a serious fan base online, with nearly 340,000 Instagram followers. Local surfers have even nicknamed her“Rippin’Rosie,”which is easily the best title anyone could earn. Steve says the best part of the whole experience isn’t the trophies or the fame, it’s the bond he and Rosie have built through surfing together. He wants people to see that dogs can be partners in adventure, not just couch companions.

Competitors were judged on wave ride length, wave size, and overall confidence, and Rosie clearly had all three locked in. This feel-good story proves that with a little patience and a lot of love, you and your pet can accomplish some pretty amazing things. What’s the coolest adventure you’ve ever had with your dog? Let us know in the comments.
