Pink is speaking out after resharing a StopAntisemitism post that criticized Macklemore for his pro-Palestine remarks during his opening sets for Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour at MetLife Stadium on Sept. 4 and 5. In a three-part Instagram statement posted Friday, Sept. 11, she said she didn’t write the words she reposted and has never called for another artist to be silenced, but that hearing Macklemore dedicate a song to a movement and tell Jewish attendees it wasn’t about them left her scared as a Jewish mom.
“I was born a Jew. I didn’t pick it, and I’ve never hidden it,”Pink wrote, adding that she has never spoken for Israel or any government. She also said Hamas is a terrorist organization, that Palestinians deserve a future honoring their humanity, and pointed to her decade of UNICEF work with children in conflict zones as proof that protecting innocent life comes first everywhere.
Macklemore is standing by his statements, writing on X that equal treatment of all humans should never be controversial. The Israeli-American Council has since launched a petition to remove him from the next eight U.S. stadium shows through early November. So where do you land?
