Kenneth Copeland Says He's 'a Very Wealthy Man' and Claims Scripture Agrees

Kenneth Copeland isn’t hiding the jets. In a 2019 Inside Edition interview, the televangelist was asked about his wealth and answered without blinking:“Yes I do. I’m a very wealthy man.”He cited Scripture, including Abraham’s blessing, to argue that money itself isn’t the problem, and said his ministry has brought 122 million people to faith.

The details are what keep this story circulating. Copeland owns a Gulfstream V he bought from Tyler Perry, two Cessna Citations, and an airstrip beside his Texas home. He has said flying commercial would force him to stop 65 percent of his preaching work, and he once described commercial planes as“long tubes with a bunch of demons,”later insisting he wasn’t talking about the passengers. A 2007 Senate review of six media ministries, his included, ended with no penalties.

What makes this more than a viral clip is the split it reveals. Most Protestant pastors reject the prosperity teaching Copeland defends, yet a 2022 Lifeway survey found 76% of churchgoers believe God wants them to prosper financially. That’s a real gap between pulpits and pews, and it shapes how millions view giving and accountability.

So where do you land? Does Scripture back wealth for preachers, or is this a lifestyle in search of a verse? Sound off in the comments.
