Paul McCartney's Height Complaint About Beatles Movies Just Got Very Real

Paul McCartney has a very specific note for Hollywood, and it has nothing to do with music. On the podcast Good Hang with Amy Poehler, McCartney insisted that all four Beatles were the same height, with Ringo Starr slightly shorter. He says photos back him up, and he is tired of films making John Lennon look physically larger. He specifically called out 2009’s Nowhere Boy, where a teenage Lennon towered over a version of young Paul he called“wimpy.”

The timing is not random. Sam Mendes is directing a four-part Beatles biopic with Paul Mescal playing McCartney and six-two Harris Dickinson as Lennon, and McCartney says he already texted the director about it. His message:“Sam! Smaller! Don’t do this!”It is a hilarious reminder that even a Beatle gets protective of his own on-screen legacy.

So will Mendes listen and shrink Lennon for accuracy, or is the larger-than-life Lennon just too good for filmmakers to give up? Either way, McCartney has officially entered the biopic chat. Which biopic moment has bugged you the most? Sound off in the comments.
