Oklahoma Turnout Slips Below 2022 and 2018 as Comanche County Results Run Into Wednesday

More than one million Oklahomans cast a ballot in the November 3 general election, but the Governor’s race unofficial total of 1,120,139 came in below both 2022 and 2018. That’s a notable turn after strong early voting had raised expectations for a bigger showing at the polls.

Locally, Comanche County voters who kept refreshing the state results site Tuesday night had a longer wait than usual. A technical issue on the reporting side meant Comanche County staff entered results manually through the night and into Wednesday. Cleveland County dealt with a separate glitch and used a backup system. The State Election Board emphasized these were reporting delays, not problems with the ballots or the counts.

Certification is on the calendar: county results Friday after 5 p.m., state and federal results next Tuesday. Until then, everything you see online is unofficial. What’s your take on this year’s turnout? Did you vote early, or did you wait for Election Day?
