A Comanche County jury convicted 23-year-old Lawton resident Juan Isaac Gonzalez-Santana on all three counts of possessing, distributing, and procuring child sex abuse material, along with a computer-related statute violation. The trial lasted about a day and a half, and jurors deliberated for roughly 90 minutes before returning the verdict. They recommended six years on two of the counts and a $5,000 fine on the third.

The investigation began in May 2024 when Snapchat filed a report with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about a user posting prohibited material. Four additional reports from the messaging app Kik later linked to the same suspect. Investigators traced IP addresses to his home and executed a search warrant on Aug. 28, 2025, recovering numerous media files from his cell phone, including short recordings of a girl between 8 and 10 years old.

Formal sentencing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 18 before District Judge Grant Sheperd. Until then, the jury’s recommendation stands as just that, a recommendation, and the judge will make the final call on the sentence. For families in Lawton and around Fort Sill, the case is a reminder that platform reports are often where these investigations begin. What apps are on your kids’phones right now, and do you know who they’re talking to on them?
