Love Island Australia Season 5 fans got some heavy news this week. Trent Woolman is in The Alfred hospital in Melbourne after falling into a bonfire while working alone in a paddock at his sister’s house. The burns hit his arms, his mouth and his airway, and while he was being treated, doctors also discovered a brain bleed and a cyst that delayed his skin graft surgery.
The details make it worse and somehow better at the same time. Woolman was sober when it happened, and he crawled back to his sister’s house, where she called an ambulance that got him airlifted to the trauma unit. He’s been hospitalized for over two weeks now, the skin grafts on his arms have since been performed, and he’s expected to stay for several more weeks. In his own words, it’s been“the worst time of my life.”
It’s a long way from the villa. If you followed his season, you know this is a guy who built a whole post-Love Island life, and now he’s focused on the slow work of recovery. Have you ever had a close call around a fire or a backyard burn pile? Tell us in the comments.
