A never-before-published Amy Winehouse interview from May 2007 has finally been released, and it’s giving fans an unfiltered look at her headspace right as“Back To Black”was taking over the world.

The interview was conducted by journalist Ariel Leve for the Sunday Times, days after Winehouse married Blake Fielder-Civil. It was shelved and sat unreleased for nearly twenty years. In it, a 23-year-old Winehouse said,“The thought of dying without ever making my mark, that was my biggest fear. Dying without making a stamp on things.”She also said she was happiest cleaning her house and cooking for friends, and expressed deep pride in the album that would go on to sell over 25 million copies and win five Grammys.

The timing of the release lines up with a big moment for her catalog. A 20th-anniversary edition of“Back To Black”arrives later this month with unreleased demos and rare photos, alongside a London tribute show featuring producer Mark Ronson. Winehouse and Fielder-Civil separated in 2009, and she died in 2011 at the age of 27.

What’s the one mark you want to leave on the world? Tell us in the comments.
