KJ Calls Out West: The Pattern Nobody's Learning From

When someone keeps apologizing but keeps repeating the same mistakes, at what point does the apology stop meaning anything? That’s the frustration Summer House star KJ Dillard is wrestling with as he processes West Wilson’s ongoing drama with Amanda Batula—and it’s hitting deeper than typical reality TV friendship friction.

During a Tuesday, June 2 appearance on the“More Life With Carl Radke”podcast, the 28-year-old didn’t hold back. KJ acknowledged his own capacity for grace—he’s made mistakes, he knows what forgiveness feels like—but he’s watching a pattern that refuses to break.“I keep seeing stuff and hearing stuff. I’m just like,‘Bro, what is going on? Are you actually sorry?'”he said, laying bare the exhaustion that comes when words don’t match actions.

What makes this particularly stinging is the personal betrayal angle. KJ was friends with West before either of them joined the Summer House cast. He also built a close friendship with Ciara Miller during season 10—the same Ciara who dated West in 2023 before he moved on to Amanda, whom he confirmed dating in late March after weeks of rumors. Amanda, 34, was previously married to fellow Summer House star Kyle Cooke. The tangled web alone is enough to strain any friendship, but KJ’s frustration runs deeper than the logistics of who dated whom.

He even drew a painful parallel to his own father, someone with whom he has a complicated relationship.“My dad has apologized to me and said,‘I’m gonna do this. I’m gonna be better.’Then, it just continues to repeat these cycles,”KJ explained. That comparison—equating a friend’s behavior to patterns he’s worked hard to process with a parent—underscores how personal this feels. It’s not just disappointment; it’s the sting of watching someone you trusted cycle through the same letdowns.

KJ also called out what he saw at the reunion: West“did not show much emotion”and failed to protect Amanda in meaningful ways. The fact that West didn’t even reach out to discuss the relationship until after KJ appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen on May 6 speaks volumes. When West finally did text, KJ read the message on air, clarifying afterward that he wasn’t seeking clout—he was looking for some kind of closure from someone he once considered a friend.

But here’s where it gets telling. Even after reading that message, KJ said:“I don’t know when I’m ever going to talk to West again. If I talk to him again.”That’s not the language of someone working toward reconciliation. That’s someone who’s decided the friendship might not survive this, and honestly, it’s hard to blame him. Part 2 of the Summer House reunion airs on Bravo Tuesday, June 2, at 8 p.m. ET—so we’ll likely see more of this reckoning play out on screen.
