Collin Gosselin, one of the eight kids from“Jon&Kate Plus 8,”released a memoir Tuesday titled“In the Shadow of Eight,”and the allegations inside are serious. Collin claims Kate kept him in a basement holding cell for two years and placed him in a mental institution in 2016, where he says she visited only once and told him,“You broke our family.”His father, Jon Gosselin, gained custody of Collin in 2018, and Collin’s sister Hannah also lives with Jon.

Kate Gosselin’s response didn’t come via a statement or interview. She posted in the TikTok comments on a video about the memoir, saying that rational people or anyone who has dealt with mental illness understands what’s going on here. She also liked a comment suggesting Collin would regret releasing the book. Collin has not publicly responded to his mother’s comments.

The Gosselin family became famous on“Jon&Kate Plus 8,”which ran from 2007 to 2009, and the kids have grown up in the public eye ever since. This latest chapter is reigniting bigger conversations about reality TV ethics, childhood fame, and how families handle estrangement in public. What do you think, should reality shows be allowed to film young kids?
