Nene Royal won the most recent season of America’s Got Talent with a guitar and a voice far older than her sixteen years. On Tuesday night in Singapore, she showed a whole arena what that win actually meant. Royal opened for Avenged Sevenfold at Singapore Indoor Stadium with a set of covers: Muse’s“Hysteria,”Soundgarden’s“Black Hole Sun,”Rage Against the Machine’s“Killing in the Name,”System of a Down’s“I-E-A-I-A-I-O,”and The Cranberries’“Zombie.”Five songs, five different eras of rock, one teenager.
She wasn’t done after the opener. Royal reappeared during Avenged Sevenfold’s headlining set, joining the band for“Bat Country”and“Unholy Confessions.”The Thailand native was added to the concert after winning AGT last month, and it capped a stretch that already included performing“The Emptiness Machine”with Linkin Park on the AGT live finale. The Warning also jammed with her in a pre-packaged segment on the show.
So a reality TV winner is now a legit arena-rock guest, and nobody handed her that spot. She earned it in front of thousands of people. The question is which legendary band she ends up onstage with next. Place your bets in the comments.
