The Jonas Brothers took the field for the ninth inning of the inaugural Banana Bowl in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, Oct. 10, and the crowd basically turned the whole thing into a screaming contest. Kevin, Joe, and Nick ran through a medley of“Burnin’Up,”“Play My Music,”“Waffle House,”and“Sucker,”but fans were so loud the music was often impossible to hear, especially when a crowd was allowed onto the field for autographs. Players from six Banana Ball Championship League teams joined in with choreographed dance moves behind them.
The night was stacked with surprise appearances. John Cena, Kane Brown, and Pentatonix all showed up at the event, which ended with the Texas Tailgaters defeating the Savannah Bananas 2-1 in the first Banana Bowl ever played. If you missed the performance, the Savannah Bananas posted the full thing on YouTube, screaming and all.
Banana Ball has been growing fast as a wild, fan-first alternative to traditional baseball, and pairing it with a boy band moment like this feels like the exact energy the league is chasing. Would you rather hear the music or the screaming? Tell us in the comments.
