JENNIE's New Single "Someone to Hold" Is a Neo-Disco Moment for Netflix's "Steps"

JENNIE has released“Someone to Hold,”her new solo single from the soundtrack of Netflix’s animated film“Steps.”The track was written and produced by Justin Tranter, who called it pure danceable joy inspired by vintage organic dance pop. Listeners can expect strings, slapping bass, and layered vocals across a melodic neo-disco sound.

The film, directed by Alyce Tzue and John Ripa and produced by Amy Poehler, puts a fresh spin on the Cinderella story. The directors said the song represents the sisterhood between the characters Lilith, Cinderella, and Margot. Both the film and its companion soundtrack premiere on Netflix on November 20.

The release lands during a strong solo stretch for JENNIE. She recently hit No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 through Tame Impala’s“Dracula”remix, giving fans plenty of momentum to follow into this new era. Which part are you more excited for: the song or the movie? Let us know.
