Grass Fire Destroys Mobile Home in Geronimo, Multiple Agencies Respond

Saturday afternoon brought a stark reminder of fire danger in our area. A grass fire broke out around 2:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Chippewa Circle in Geronimo, and within a short time, it had destroyed an unoccupied mobile home and caused damage to an outbuilding on the property. No injuries were reported, and the fire was under control by approximately 3:02 p.m.

The response was a coordinated effort involving the Geronimo, Hulen, Chattanooga, and Comanche Nation Fire Departments. Fire Chief Norman Levillie credited the quick work of his firefighters for preventing further damage to surrounding structures. He also extended thanks to community members who stepped up by bringing water and using garden hoses to help slow the fire before crews arrived on the scene.

While the cause remains under investigation, this incident highlights how fast grass fires can spread in dry conditions.
