Ethan Hawke Blasts Hollywood's "Greedy Bastards," Predicts Massive Rebellion

Ethan Hawke is done playing nice. In a new interview with GQ, the Oscar-nominated actor called Hollywood’s wealthy power players“greedy bastards”and predicted that a massive rebellion is coming for the entertainment industry. He says people are going to“wake up and punch back,”pointing to big movements brewing in music, live theater, and public gatherings.

Hawke also got candid about the money side of things, saying the projects actors love most are the ones that pay the least. That tension between passion and a paycheck is something plenty of creatives outside Hollywood understand all too well. He didn’t stop there either, comparing celebrity to a disease that isolates people and can push them toward destructive behavior, echoing comments he made previously on Joe Rogan’s podcast.

His remarks land in the middle of a bigger conversation.
