Danny Trejo Says He's Not Pro-ICE, But His Son Says He's Stuck in the Contract

Danny Trejo is setting the record straight after catching serious heat for starring in“Pawn Shop,”an upcoming Daily Wire film about an ICE agent who takes shelter in a Minneapolis pawn shop. In a statement, Trejo said,“I am also obviously pro-immigrant. I am not pro ICE.”But the internet wasn’t exactly in a listening mood, especially since Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro has openly described the project as pro-ICE.

The plot twist came from Trejo’s son, Gilbert, who says his father had never even heard of Ben Shapiro and only learned what the film was really about two weeks into shooting. Even bigger: Gilbert claims his dad is contractually barred from criticizing the film or walking away from it, saying he’s“handcuffed to this stupid project.”Meanwhile, production in Livingston, Montana was briefly halted over complaints about closures, simulated gunfire, and a scene echoing Renée Good’s killing.

So where does that leave Trejo’s legacy with the fans who’ve rocked with him for decades? Was this a misstep, a bad contract, or something in between? Sound off and let us know what you think.
