The Gosselin family saga just added another chapter, and this one is about money. Collin Gosselin told Page Six that his mother, Kate Gosselin, took more than $100,000 from a collective trust meant for him and his seven siblings and used it to furnish her North Carolina lake house. The trust was funded by the family’s reality TV earnings from their years on TLC.
The paperwork backs up at least part of the claim. In 2019 court filings, Kate acknowledged two $50,000 withdrawals from the children’s trust, describing them as borrowed. That same year, she purchased a $750,000 lake house. Jon Gosselin said in 2022 that the loans were never repaid to Collin or his sister Hannah. Kate has denied Collin’s abuse claims and previously described him as a troubled young man who received multiple psychiatric diagnoses.
Collin’s allegations arrive as he promotes a new memoir and competes on“Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test,”putting one of reality TV’s most famous families back in the spotlight. The bigger question is whether child stars’earnings should have stronger legal protections.
What do you think: should reality TV kids’money be protected by law?
