Carly Rae Jepsen just gave the internet a pop culture crossover we didn’t see coming. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the singer opened up about her son’s name, Ilya, and hinted it may be inspired by Ilya Rozanov, the character played by Connor Storrie on HBO’s“Heated Rivalry.”Her exact words:“Ilya is the name of my son. Maybe, not maybe because of that show.”

The connection runs deeper than just the name. Jepsen revealed she was originally asked to write a song for season one, but the show didn’t have the budget for it. She watched anyway, called it“an incredible show,”and now she’s writing a song for season two, which she described as a“dream.”Season two will adapt“The Long Game,”the sixth book in the“Game Changers”series. Meanwhile, her double LP“Day And Night”arrives September 18 and pulls from her relationship with husband Cole M.G.N. and their growing family.

So whether or not little Ilya is officially named after a fictional hockey star, the story is too good to ignore. Would you name a baby after a TV character? Sound off in the comments.
