RJ Mitte, best known for playing Walter“Flynn”White Jr. on all five seasons of Breaking Bad, has died by suicide at his home in Brownsville, Texas. He was 34. His death was confirmed by police and his spokesperson.
His final interview aired just a week ago, on October 5, on The Joe Vulpis Podcast. In it, Mitte reflected on living fully and on what mattered most to him.“That’s really the greatest thing that Breaking Bad has given me, is to be able to lend my voice to causes that make a meaningful impact that change people’s lives,”he said. He also shared a simple measure of happiness:“As long as my family is healthy and happy, I’m happy.”
Beyond the screen, Mitte was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at age 3 and became a dedicated disability rights advocate. He served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s, and as president of The Mitte Foundation. His representative noted that he built a platform for awareness and inclusion that touched countless lives.
