Zendaya's 'The Odyssey' Is Heading To $1 Billion And Tom Holland's 'Spider-Man' Can't Get An IMAX Screen

Christopher Nolan’s‘The Odyssey’has officially taken over the box office. After just two weeks, the film has earned $639.6 million globally, putting it on a fast track to the $1 billion club. The film features Zendaya as the goddess Athena and Lupita Nyong’o in dual roles, and it’s already being called one of the biggest cinematic events of the year.

Part of the reason for the frenzy?‘The Odyssey’is the first movie ever shot entirely on 70mm IMAX cameras. That means fans are scrambling to see it on the biggest screen possible, with IMAX showings selling out weeks in advance. Scalpers are even marking up tickets like concert passes. And in a twist, Tom Holland’s new‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’arrives next weekend, but it won’t have access to any IMAX screens because‘The Odyssey’locked them down for three weeks straight.
