Whitney Rose Says Mormon Guilt Made Her Divorce Devastating: "I'm the One Who Filed"

Whitney Rose is opening up about her divorce from Justin Rose for the first time, and she’s not holding back. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star told SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio that she filed after nearly 17 years of marriage, saying she“gave it her all”but ultimately chose to leave a situation where she wasn’t happy.“I’m the one who filed. I made that choice,”she said, one of her most direct statements yet about the split.

What makes her story hit harder is the faith factor. Whitney left the Mormon Church 20 years ago, but she admitted the church’s views on divorce still live rent-free in her head:“I still have that Mormon programming running through my brain that you don’t get divorced.”That guilt even delayed how she told her two kids, Bobbie, 16, and Brooks, 13. Today, she says she and Justin are co-parenting peacefully and amicably, which is the outcome every family hopes for.

The timing is wild too. Her castmate Angie Katsanevas recently separated from Shawn Trujillo, so Salt Lake City is serving up two very real splits this season. Is it messy? Maybe. Is it relatable? Absolutely.

Do you think leaving a marriage for your own happiness is brave or selfish? Sound off in the comments.
