The band has been named the 2027 MusiCares Persons of the Year, recognizing Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. for their long-standing commitment to global health, disaster response, addiction recovery, mental health, and music education. MusiCares, the Recording Academy’s charity, provides critical support to people across the music industry, and U2 has been a consistent ally in that mission.
The 36th annual Persons of the Year benefit gala is set for Friday, February 5th, 2027, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, right in the middle of Grammy Weekend. As is tradition, a tribute concert celebrating the honorees’discography will follow, with performers to be announced at a later date. U2 joins an impressive list of past recipients, including Mariah Carey, Joni Mitchell, Dolly Parton, and Fleetwood Mac.
U2 isn’t just collecting legacy awards, either.
