With the highway gridlocked, the police kept the lines of communication open, reminding frustrated drivers to exercise caution, especially with the slippery road conditions. By around 8:12 p.m., some progress was made, with one lane reopening. Traffic finally resumed more normal flow by 8:30 p.m. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, proving that perhaps this traffic nightmare was just a lesson in patience for drivers.
