Sometimes the thing that saves a relationship is the thing that almost ends it. That’s the unexpected twist in the Tom Sandoval and Victoria Lee Robinson saga—a couple that spent three weeks in April completely disconnected while Tom was filming a Netflix survival competition in Panama hosted by Alan Ritchson, and came back to a crossroads that forced real honesty.

No phones. No contact. For Tom and Victoria, it was the longest stretch they’d gone without speaking since they started dating. When Tom returned, they had the talk—the kind where you actually say what you’ve been thinking. Victoria’s conclusion: they should break up. Tom’s realization: the time apart made him love her more and want to fight for the relationship. They decided to stay together, at least for now.

But here’s where the story gets darker. Just weeks later in June, Victoria was arrested after Tom told police she allegedly hit him. A video obtained by TMZ appears to show her father, Will Robinson, grabbing Tom before Tom shoves him back, causing Will to fall into a lit fire pit. Tom was granted a temporary restraining order against both Victoria and Will, ordering them to leave the home.

The accusations flew in both directions. Victoria sought her own restraining order against Tom, alleging he’d been physically abusive on multiple occasions, including during the June 3 fight at their Hollywood Hills rental. According to Tom’s rep, he wanted to end the relationship several times but felt trapped—Victoria, the rep claims, threatened to ruin his life with false accusations if he left.

Tom’s rep also says he financially supported Victoria and her father for nearly two years, covering most of the rent, and had to obtain a court-ordered move-out before he could even retrieve his belongings. Victoria disputes Tom’s version of events.

What’s striking is how quickly that moment of clarity in April—when Tom felt certain he wanted to fight for love—unraveled into something far messier. Sometimes distance reveals truth. Sometimes it just delays the inevitable.
