A pop-up shop in Stockholm’s Hornstull neighborhood is rewriting the rules of retail. At The Humble Co.’s Breath Boutique, there’s no cash and no cards. Customers breathe into a handheld analyzer that rates sulfur compounds on a 1-4 scale, and the stinkier the result, the more free dental products they walk out with: toothpaste, toothbrushes, flossers, the works.
The campaign came out of a simple stat. The brand surveyed people and found one in three get bad breath at least weekly, and half have avoided telling someone about theirs. Rather than let that awkwardness keep winning, The Humble Co. turned the whole thing into a game. Marketing manager Louise Lehmann says the goal is to make the topic less cringe and inspire better oral care routines.
A machine calling out your breath is way less painful than a friend doing it, and the payoff is a free toothbrush. Would you step up and take the test, or is that a hard pass? Tell us in the comments.
