The Las Vegas Sphere is proving it’s more than just a cool visual on your Instagram feed. Sphere Entertainment just announced Q2 revenue of $313.6 million, an 11% jump from last year, driven almost entirely by their immersive Wizard of Oz experience. The show has sold over 3 million tickets and generated a massive $400 million in ticket sales since opening. Yes, you read that right. $400 million for a single show.

But it’s not all rainbows and emerald cities. The company also posted an operating loss of $61.3 million thanks to a 30% increase in expenses. Running a venue with a 160,000 square foot LED screen and 167,000 speakers isn’t cheap. CEO James Dolan says they haven’t even maxed out their revenue potential yet, which means even bigger things are coming.

Speaking of which, the next Sphere Experience has already been announced. The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Sphere is set to open in 2027, and we can only imagine the chaos and fun that will bring. Plus, new Sphere venues are in the works for Abu Dhabi and National Harbor, Maryland. So if you can’t make it to Vegas, the Sphere might come to you. Have you been to the Sphere yet? Which show would you want to see first?
