Ted Danson just got incredibly real about one of the most chaotic periods of his life. The Cheers legend revealed on his podcast that he was so consumed by personal problems he didn’t even realize the iconic sitcom had wrapped in 1993. Appearing in all 273 episodes as Sam Malone, Danson said he “barely knew myself” and had “f–ked up” his life so badly that the finale went right over his head.
Instead of letting the chaos win, Danson took action. He visited a mentor for therapy and spirituality, admitting “I wanted to stop being a liar. I wanted to be emotionally mature.” He described this period as a “postgrad grow-up class fast,” showing that even at the peak of fame, personal growth is a choice. Now 78, he’s starring in Netflix’s “Man on the Inside” and proving that reinvention is always possible.
