Robot security dogs have officially arrived in Atlanta, and one viral video is making the rounds for a very specific reason. Residents filmed a glowing robodog at an apartment complex speaking in what they describe as an Indian accent. The bot belongs to Undaunted, an Atlanta company that has deployed more than 120 units across the city as of August, targeting properties dealing with car break-ins and loitering.
The robots run on live operators, not artificial intelligence improvising on the spot. Those operators watch the camera feeds, speak through the robot, alert police, and notify customers when something suspicious happens. Undaunted CEO Bryan Dinner says the robots carry no offensive weapons and will never physically intervene. The viral moment that got everyone’s attention involved thieves sprinting away from one robot, unaware that three more were stationed on the property.
The price tag is where people start doing math. A base package costs $3,333 per month for two robots, charging stations, and eight hours of daily monitoring. That’s more than many human security jobs pay, which raises the obvious question about cost versus capability. Some residents say they love the visibility and the deterrence factor. Others are asking about privacy, surveillance, and whether a machine on wheels can really replace a person who knows the neighborhood.
Would you feel safer with a robot dog patrolling your street, or would it just make you feel watched?
