Ringo Starr Says The Beatles Would Have Reunited If John Lennon and George Harrison Were Still Alive

Ringo Starr just gave Beatles fans the most bittersweet“what if”of the year. In a new interview with Page Six, the 86-year-old drummer said he believes The Beatles would have made more music together if John Lennon and George Harrison were still alive.“I do think we possibly would have got together sometime from, you know, John leaving us to now, if we were all still around,”he said. Lennon was killed in 1980 at age 40, and Harrison died of cancer in 2001 at 58. The band never reunited after their 1970 breakup.

What Ringo misses most isn’t the records or the tours. It’s the brotherhood. He said he had three brothers even though he was an only child, and he still talks with Paul McCartney a couple of times a month. The two even play on each other’s records. That friendship has now lasted more than six decades and shows no signs of fading. Ringo also shared his thoughts on Sam Mendes’four upcoming Beatles biopics, set to release simultaneously in 2028, calling them“amazing”while noting they’re movies, not documentaries.

Meanwhile, Ringo is busier than ever. He just released his 22nd solo album,“Long Long Road,”and continues touring with His All Starr Band. He plays Forest Hills Stadium on October 1, his first time back since The Beatles’1964 stadium shows there. With Barry Keoghan set to play Ringo in the Mendes biopics, the Beatles legacy is about to get a whole new generation of fans.
