Nicolas Cage Says He's "A Little Bit Homeless" After Sinkhole Hits His Malibu Home

Nicolas Cage dropped a genuinely unexpected update at Los Angeles Comic Con on Halloween: his Malibu house is out of commission.“I’m currently a little bit homeless,”he told the panel, explaining that a sinkhole damaged the beachfront property he bought for $10.5 million in 2024. The collapse took out part of his driveway and the road nearby, and he’s been staying in hotels since.

The situation is bigger than one famous homeowner. Malibu declared an emergency in September, with seven homes red-tagged and 24 more slated for the same fate. Gas service has already been shut off in the affected area, water service could be next, and officials warned that emergency access was severely constrained. Cage’s property is caught up in a neighborhood-wide infrastructure problem.

Through all of it, he kept Halloween intact. Cage took his 4-year-old daughter August trick-or-treating in Santa Monica instead, then said he planned to watch The Shining once she was in bed. Have you ever had a home disaster derail your holiday plans? Tell us how you salvaged the night.
