A 2018 letter sent to London’s Metropolitan Police accusing Thomas Markle Sr. of child sexual abuse was allegedly written by his ex-wife, Roslyn Loveless, according to BBC and Page Six reports. Loveless was married to Thomas Sr. from 1964 to 1975 and was the mother of Samantha Markle and Thomas Markle Jr. She died in 2024. The letter became public after Meghan Markle acknowledged it on Friday, October 23, saying she was deeply distressed and that her thoughts were with any children who may have been harmed.

The story has moved quickly. Thomas Markle Jr. told The Sun on October 22 that he reported alleged illegal images found in his father’s Philippines home. Filipino interior minister Jonvic Remulla confirmed an investigation is underway, saying the signs point to a possible sex offender of the grossest kind, and noting forensic data will be complete in about a week. Thomas Sr., 82, denies all accusations and calls them sick lies.

There’s more to watch here than the family headlines. The case raises questions about how British police handled the original letter and what the upcoming forensic results will show. We’ll be following the investigation as it develops.

What do you think about how allegations like these get handled when a famous family is involved?
