Sir Patrick Stewart died on Oct. 28, 2026, and while the world honors his decades on stage and screen, fans are also rediscovering a 2016 passion project that shows a completely different side of him. In a faux Nineties-style infomercial for“Patrick Stewart’s Cowboy Classics,”he starred as Cowboy Pat, England’s premiere cowboy singer, complete with flannel, chaps, and a cowboy hat.

The project wasn’t just a joke. It benefited the International Rescue Committee, and Stewart’s love of Western music ran deep, rooted in childhood singalongs with his brother Trevor and recounted in his memoir Making It So. He sang classics like“Rawhide”and“(Ghost) Riders in the Sky,”and the tagline still lands:“Sometimes it takes an Englishman to teach us what’s great about being an American.”

Singer Gillian Welch, a friend and favorite of Stewart’s, posted a remembrance calling him“a marvel”and saying she’ll never forget him. It’s a reminder that the best tributes are sometimes the silliest ones. Have you watched Cowboy Pat yet? Tell us your favorite Patrick Stewart moment in the comments.
