Rebecca Gayheart is opening up about the earliest sign that something was wrong with Eric Dane. During an appearance on Drew Barrymore’s“Personal Spaces,”she said Dane started getting headaches months before his ALS diagnosis, which stood out because he had never had them during the years they dated and were married. He chalked it up to sleeping on his neck wrong.
Dane’s posthumous memoir,“My Book of Days: A Memoir in Moments,”tells a different version of the beginning. He wrote that his first symptom was losing control of chopsticks at a sushi dinner, his right hand tingling before his fingers went numb. What followed was months of testing and a misdiagnosis before his ALS diagnosis in 2024. Dane died in February 2026 at 53.
The couple filed to dismiss their divorce in April 2025, choosing to keep their family intact for their daughters Billie and Georgia. Dane’s memoir arrives Tuesday. Have you ever ignored a symptom that turned out to matter? Tell us in the comments.
