Grace Kelly’s granddaughter is getting married. Princess Alexandra of Hanover, 27, announced her engagement to Ben-Sylvester Strautmann on Friday, and the couple has been together for a full decade. She shared proposal photos on Instagram along with a look at her ring, captioning the post“The marriage plot.”If you caught the literary reference, yes, that’s exactly what you think it is.

The ring is a 4.8-carat Fancy Yellow diamond designed by Antinori di Sanpietro, and it’s already getting attention for the color alone. Fancy Yellow isn’t your standard sparkle, it’s a statement stone. Alexandra is the daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco, granddaughter of Grace Kelly, and 13th in line to the Monaco throne. So while she won’t be running the palace anytime soon, she is very much Monaco royalty.

She and Strautmann grew up in the same Monaco circles and both came up as competitive athletes. Alexandra represented Monaco in figure skating, and Strautmann played basketball for the country’s under-18 national team. A figure skater and a baller, engaged after ten years. Would you wait a decade for the ring, or is there a deadline in your head? Tell us in the comments.
