Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet Switch Schools Just Two Days Into the Term Over Security Concerns

Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, were pulled from their school just two days into the new term, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moving them to a new school amid security concerns. According to reports, heavy traffic was putting serious strain on the family’s small security team, and the commute made it impractical to keep security vehicles in a proper convoy that could protect the children.

A representative for the couple said the decision followed discussions with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements, and made clear the move is not a reflection on the school or the care the children received there. A source close to the family added that they really wanted to make it work but had to make a difficult call once it became clear the school run couldn’t be made operationally secure. The kids were enrolled at a nearby school by Monday, and Harry was reportedly spotted with Lilibet in the reception area.

The story raises a bigger question about what’s actually possible for kids growing up in the public eye. Security, privacy, normalcy, and a short commute all have to line up perfectly, and even then, plans can change overnight.
