Niall Horan opened his Dinner Party Live on Tour in Birmingham, England, and made sure Liam Payne’s presence was felt all night long. Right after performing“End of an Era,”the tribute song he wrote for his late bandmate, Horan dropped the stage lights and played recorded interview audio of Payne’s voice. The crowd went quiet. Niall stood in the middle of it all, letting his friend have one more moment in a sold-out arena.
The tribute carried extra weight because of how close the One Direction guys were. Payne died in October 2024 at the age of 31, and his bandmates have honored him in different ways since, from social media posts to songs written in his memory.“End of an Era”is Niall’s version of saying what words alone can’t always do. It’s a rare glimpse into how much his friend still means to him, played out in front of thousands of fans at the start of a brand new tour.
Horan released his fourth solo album, Dinner Party, back in June 2026, and now he’s taking it around the world. Night one proved that this tour will be about more than just promoting the record. It’ll be about celebrating a legacy, both his and Payne’s.
